Things to do in the Midlands Meander
-- Main Garden View of the Hotel

The Midlands Meander provides a wide array of recreational activities fulfilling the country and outdoor lifestyle.

At Tanglewood, we try our best not to keep you indoors or on the grounds and rather for you to experience what the Midlands has to offer. After-all, there is a reason behind the local saying of "lets go meandering in the midlands".

Explore the activities below, contact us should you want to know more.

Popular Activities

Windy trails through golden country landscape and lush green forests will have you taking pictures like crazy.

Midlands hosts a handful of top-tier courses, of which two are rated within the top 50 and top 100 within South Africa by Golf Digest.

Horseback riding

From polo games to horse trails - a fun family activity.

A quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of every-day life. The area is very  popular for fly fishing.

Main Attractions
Pub Crawls, Gin and Wine Tastings

Top of the must-dos is to hop all the local joints and soak your taste buds in craft beer and gin. There are countless stops along the main route so we recommend assembling your mates and prepare for festivities!

Places for the Tummy

Of course - there has to be places to brunch, lunch and snack - every area has one. But, does every place offer a unique experience? The Midlands does. Whether you want to picnic among goats on top of a mountain, indulge in warm pizza over a glass lake, or have sneaky chocolates at a mini chocolate factory - there is a place for every occasion.

Cycling and Adventure Bikes

The Midlands has always been known as the Valhalla of bike rides, boasting views and routes that will leave you in awe. We will be happy to recommend routes, spots and trails - inquire at the front desk!

Site Seeing

Meander your way through to the capture site of Nelson Mandela - an area rich in history and appreciation, or learn about the history of the military presence in the area - found at Fort Nottingham just up the road. Local natural landmarks, waterfalls and mountain views are also a must-see. Again, just inquire at the front desk.
